This is a photo of my hip. My head and hip hit at the same impact on the Velodrome floor. If my hip looks like this, can you imagine how my head feels? I hope to find video of the event and of my crash. I would like to see what my body did and where in the heck my bike went.
The most obvious and annoying thing about a head injury is you can’t see it. I woke up this morning groggy and hurting, kind of like I need to hook up to the coffee I.V. Even after my morning cup of coffee I still feel like I had a head cold. Today was the day to schedule the MRI. After scheduling I found out the co pay is 430.45 in cash, no personal checks or credit cards. WOW, that’s a doozie.
It was a bit rough getting through the day. I need to work at 100% but am only at about 70%. I want to work fast but my brain is no computing that quickly. Seems that everyone has a story about a head injury; they either knew someone who had an injury or just read in the paper about someone whose life was affected severely from head trauma.
We have advanced in so many ways but our brain is still old fashioned. Our bodies become more efficient and we build up immunities and tolerance but yet our brain needs to be treated like an elderly person in senior care.
I have to thank everyone for their stories and concerns. It’s really hard on me being an elite athlete and not being able to head out on a ride, or take a quick run to feel better.
